Short Course Training Opportunity with PLAAS

Why this course?

The Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS) in collaboration with the African Land Policy Centre will be presenting a short course on The Political Economy of Land Governance at the University of Western Cape (UWC) on the 7th-13th October 2018. 

Through the use of regional case studies, this short course, which is the first of a series courses, will explore key themes and concepts in the political economy of land governance, including pre-colonial histories; statutory and customary tenure rights; land policy and land law; land administration in rural and urban contexts; land corruption; large scale land acquisitions; gender and class; and natural resource access and management.

Who can apply?

Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree and have 3-4 years experience. Applicants without a university degree may be considered if they have 10-15 years work experience. This course is funded by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), through the NELGA. Funding is available for 30 participants to cover course registration fees, travel and accommodation.
