Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), is the Premier Centre of Excellence in Ghana for teaching and training education in Science and Technology. The Department of Land Economy at KNUST is at the forefront of land governance research in Ghana. Currently, KNUST runs two undergraduate programmes in BSc Land Economy and BSc Real Estate, and an MSc Land Governance and Policy, as well as MSc Facilities Management degrees. There is also a PhD degree Programme in Land Management for doctoral research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The University also has a strong network with\u202finstitutions, professionals and practitioners in the land sector at both local and international levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In light of this background, KNUST was selected as the regional Node for Anglophone West Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The mission of the KNUST node is to provide top-notch research focusing on land governance and development strategies and based on a flexible interdisciplinary curriculum and orientation. The nodes highly demanded annual research workshops target policy makers and professionals in the land sector at both local and international levels. Through its experienced staff the node has trained researchers to effectively communicate research findings to the scientific community in a safe and ethical manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Capacity building <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Since 2018 the KNUST node has provided capacity building for several land professionals and has granted 25 scholarships (15 MScs and 10 PhDs) for planning, land governance and geomatic engineering courses. In addition, KNUST has organised several land-themed training workshops, which have leveraged technology and e-platforms as a means of addressing land-related challenges for stakeholders in the public and private sectors, non-governmental organisations, policy advocacy groups and traditional authorities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Policy <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The node has introduced an international policy dialogue on land governance in West Africa. It was set up as a platform for land governance practitioners and policy makers in West Africa to dialogue on key governance challenges confronting the West Africa sub-region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
